A Case of Septal Perforation due to Button Battery in Nasal Cavity

Abstract

|
Owing to usage widely of button battery in watches, electronic toys, games, calculators and cameras, parents and physicians should be careful attention of this battery foreign body. Alkaline disc battery inserted in nasal cavity is unusual foreign body, but dangerous because they can cause liquefaction necrosis with subsequent severe local tissue destruction. It is resulting in late sequelaes, such as septal perforation, nasal meatal stenosis or synechiae. We report case of button battery foreign body in the nasal cavity of 5-year-oldby leading to septal perforation.
